NATUROPATHY & NUTRITION
At EVOLVE HEALTH ILLAWARRA, we are all about supporting the body's capacity to heal. Research has continued to show the strong link between muscle health, gut health and mental health. Our Naturopath and Nutritionist are here to help you, focusing on improving your health through a number of treatment practices.
WHAT IS NATUROPATHY?
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to wellness based on the principle that the body has the inherent ability to heal itself. It focuses on the body as a whole, rather than just the illness presenting itself. Naturopaths occasionally create liquid herbs for ingestion and recommend natural supplements and other self management techniques such as deep breathing to help you on your journey to better health.
WHAT IS NUTRITION?
Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food, how the body uses them, and the relationship between diet, health, and disease. Nutritionists use ideas from molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics to understand how nutrients affect the human body. Nutrition also focuses on how people can use dietary choices to reduce the risk of disease, what happens if a person has too much or too little of a nutrient, and how allergies work.
WHEN SHOULD I SEE A NATUROPATH?
Some of the reasons you would book to see a naturopath include:
If you are unhappy with an area of your health
If you feel like you aren’t getting answers from your current medical team
If you are continuously getting sick
If you are planning on conceiving or having trouble conceiving
If you are stressed
If you experience digestive concerns
If you are having trouble sleeping or staying asleep
To optimize your health
WHAT DOES A NATUROPATH DO?
A naturopath will take an in-depth look at your current health; then use diet and lifestyle modifications alongside herbal and nutritional medicine to help you address your health concerns and achieve your health goals.
IS YOUR NATUROPATH QUALIFIED?
Our naturopath has a Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences (Naturopathy) and is registered with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS). This means undertaking a set amount of professional education hours each year and abiding by the ATMS code of conduct.
Leisha graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy as well as a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Naturopathy).
She is interested in investigating and solving the underlying (often hidden) cause of your health condition. By finding the cause and putting together a plan of action to resolve the condition, this creates a healthier body, healthier life and overall satisfaction for you.
Leisha treats each client as an individual because you ARE an individual. She is particularly passionate about women in sport, women's hormones, digestive concerns, diabetes and allergies.
As a nutritionist Courtney is passionate about children's nutrition. She has lots of recipes in her portfolio and is always keen to offer great dinner and snack ideas for the whole family. Courtney enjoys working with parents to address common issues that affect children like eczema, constipation and 'fussy eating.
In addition to this, Courtney helps out our musculoskeletal patients by recommending helpful supplements that can aid in the reduction of inflammation and joint pain, as well as those that promote general health and immunity.
